4.1 Browse asset classifications
Navigation: Asset Structures > Asset Classifications.
-
Review the hierarchy and search for the required classification.
-
Open a linked classification to view its details.
-
Check its accounting group, hierarchy and applicable measurement or depreciation settings.
The number of classification levels is determined by entity setup. Financial measurement and depreciation criteria belong at the lowest configured classification level. A classification organises accounting and reporting; a cost centre identifies a separate organisational allocation.
4.2 Load the initial classification structure
-
Open Asset Structures. If no classifications exist, select Import.
-
Select Classifications on the import page.
-
Download the current template for the entity.
-
Complete the hierarchy and required accounting settings in that template.
-
Upload it, save and review the import results.
-
Return to Asset Structures and inspect the hierarchy before adding assets.
The template reflects the entity's configured hierarchy depth. Do not reuse another entity's template without downloading and checking the current one. Follow article 7.3 for exception handling.
4.3 Add a classification to an existing structure
Navigation: Asset Structures > Asset Classifications > Add New. Requires write access.
-
Select the Accounting Group.
-
Select the existing parent levels needed to locate the new classification.
-
Enter the new Description.
-
If creating a lowest-level classification, select Subsequent Measurement Model and Depreciation Method.
-
Select Revaluation Method when the revaluation model requires it.
-
Complete the applicable estimate: useful life in months, depreciation rate or estimated production units, plus residual-value percentage where required.
-
Select Save, then find and inspect the new classification.
Rules to check:
-
You cannot add a child below the configured maximum depth.
-
A parent already linked to assets cannot receive a new child through this operation.
-
A description must not duplicate another classification under the same parent.
-
Measurement and depreciation fields are entered only at the lowest configured level.
-
Straight-line requires useful life; diminishing balance requires a rate; units of production requires estimated units.
-
A residual percentage must be below 100. With depreciation method None, the residual percentage must be zero or omitted.
The classification detail screen does not provide a general Edit/Delete workflow. Ask the administrator to arrange an appropriate supported correction if the structure is wrong. Do not reverse a classification import simply to rename a category; reversal can remove linked assets and events.
4.4 Add and review cost centres
Navigation: Asset Structures > Asset Cost Centres.
-
Review the existing codes and names to avoid duplication.
-
Select Add.
-
Enter Cost Centre Code and Cost Centre Name.
-
Select Save or Cancel to abandon the new record.
-
Find the new cost centre in the list and review its status and modification information.
For bulk loading, use Import > Cost Centres. Use active cost centres when assigning WIP assets. The reviewed cost-centre interface provides list and add functions, with no documented direct edit, delete or activation toggle.
4.5 Link classifications to trial balance accounts
Navigation: Asset Structures > Asset Classifications > Link TB Accounts, where displayed.
-
Open the linking screen.
-
Download the TB Class Linking Template from its template link.
-
Populate the generated linking sheet using your approved TB/GL account mapping.
-
Preserve the generated structure and identifiers.
-
Select or drop the completed Excel workbook into the upload area.
-
Select Import.
-
Review the import result and exceptions in Import if necessary.
-
Generate Reports > Data Reports > TB Balance Report and reconcile the mapping to the ledger.
This operation creates account linkages. It is not a documented posting of journals to a general ledger or an automatic import of the ledger's balances. The TB Balance Report becomes available when TB linkages exist.
4.6 Export classifications
Open Asset Structures > Asset Classifications and use Export when displayed. Inspect the resulting workbook before using it as evidence or a planning aid. An export is not automatically an import template.
Some action buttons depend on the selected tab, whether a structure exists and your permissions. If Link TB Accounts or Export is absent, contact the administrator instead of changing roles or removing data to reveal it.
